Today is the day

Today is the day that I asked an array of questions

And received a plethora of answers

Today is the day I proceed to perceive and receive

my future, my blessings, my calling.

Tonight is the night 

I sleep deeply,

I sleep tight with my ancestors beside me

My guides flying high above me

Calling out those who wish to deceive me. 

Believe me,

when I say its been a long time coming.

Its been too many boundaries held too low

and Perfectionism held far too high.

Stopping myself far to early because I'm too scared to try.

Today is the day

that I refuse to excuse my truths

My life, my talents, my loves

for people I don't even see on a yearly basis.

My bases are loaded and I'm swinging for a home run.

Because unlike most people I had to run far from home, 

to build my home.

So I run, as fast and as true as I can

to the home that I have built with my own two hands.

Today is the day I allow myself to enjoy it,

Take my talents, employ it,

Rely on love and not money to get me through.

They say life's a journey

So I'm taking off my shoes.
